    • Build urban institutions to improve cities livability

    • Foster integrated city development

    • Combine policy reforms, capacity development, institutional strengthening and knowledge management

    • Develop Pilots and leapfrog to latest technologies

    • Prepare and implement smart city plans

    • Enhance city competitiveness and productivity

    • Support localization and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals

  2. Improve provision of urban infrastructure and services

    • Support infrastructure and services in urban areas

    • Scale up the use of proven digital technologies

    • Ensure water security and adequate waste management

    • Provide energy security

    • Promote public mass transport

    • Support pro-poor inclusive cities with social services, and safe and healthy urban environments

ADB's Vision of Livable Cities

ADB’s vision is to transform the archetypical chaotic, polluted, inequitable cities of Asia and the Pacific into a competitive, equitable, environmentally sustainable, and climate resilient urban centers—in short, livable cities. This will require a new approach to city development, including how ADB supports that development.
